Lando Norris Leads Oscar Piastri in Brazilian Practice
Lando Norris has outperformed his teammate at all of the previous five race weekends.
The McLaren driver narrowly beat fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the top spot in the dying seconds of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who grabbed the title advantage from his teammate by just one point after taking the win in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Australian by 0.023 seconds.
Earlier in the session, Oscar Piastri had been the fastest McLaren driver during the running before sprint qualifying due at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, sitting 36 points behind Norris, ended up in P17 as his Red Bull team opted for a unique setup.
Verstappen's team-mate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he spun at Turn Four during the early running.
The Japanese lost control over the curbs on exit before sliding over the run-off area, and was blessed to get away with just a slight brush of the barrier.
Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton also had a spin, at the very end of the practice, turning around through the quick descending Mergulho corner leading to the final corner on to the pit straight.
The veteran wrapped up in 19th place, trailing teammate the Monegasque driver.
The McLaren pair were far ahead of the remaining drivers, with Nico Hulkenberg's car in third, over half a second behind Piastri's pace.
Aston Martin's the Spanish driver was in fourth, with Sauber's Gabriel Bortoleto in front of Mercedes' George Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Carlos Sainz.
